Should pain stop sport training?

29/03/2012

Being an insole manufacturer Corazza Group is carefully focused on the sporty side of life, since this might expose people to traumas, fatigue and consequently require the support of orthese, such as thermoformable insoles or sport insoles.

With regards to sport a common question is whether feeling pain would be a reason to stop, say, running: actually, it is known that there is limit not to be exceeded. At the same time keeping within said limit is not a problem for our health...

When does pain become dangerous? Better said, when is it appropriate to halt and stop running in case of pain?

An interesting article in the Corriere della Sera reports individual answers to this question:

PLANTAR FASCIITIS. This is a malignant problem since its first symptoms are not invalidating. If the pain grows serious by only when walking then specific therapies should be applied, e.g. tecar. Changing running shoes with models with high shock absorbing features might be an alternative.

TIBIAL PERIOSTITIS. This is another malignant physical problem since it allows for continuing training thus chronicising and leading to the feared stress fractures, presently growing day by day in the world of modern running. Being caused by biomechanical problems, specific insoles are the remedy.

The rest of the article is available in the original website. Please remember there is a limit beyond which pain is no longer pain, but a chronic problem.
